CU Kind Day: Credit Unions Making Miracles
On October 12th, the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) hosted its annual CU Kind Day virtually with the goal of spreading kindness, creating awareness, and impacting communities. Throughout the day, credit unions were encouraged to participate by donating or volunteering their time to help create an impact in their communities. In just one day, 55 dedicated credit unions and their supporting partners helped to raise over $75,000 for 104 different community organizations throughout the state of Illinois!
On CU Kind Day, credit unions from across the state purchased custom CU Kind Day t-shirts. A donation was made to CMN from each purchase. Thanks to the efforts of the ICUL in partnership with LSC, over $3,000 was donated to CMN Hospitals to support the area of greatest need! Many other credit unions on this day made donations to CMN as well which will only further help the patients and their families during this time of financial insecurity.
Staci Hering of the ICUL, pictured in her CU Kind Day T-shirt to the left, had this to say when asked about why they support CMN: “The credit union philosophy is ‘people helping people’. Those three little words are at the heart of everything our movement does and giving back to the communities we serve is one of the major ways we demonstrate that philosophy. We place great importance on outreach work not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because it is a promise we make to our communities, a promise of choosing people over profits. CU Kind Day is a celebration of those ideals and opportunity to do great things as one collaborative force for good! We are always eager to offer our support to the Children’s Miracle Network and remain sincerely grateful for the incredible work they do for children and families across the country.”
