Family Sends Message of Hope with RE/MAX Contest

Sophia, age 10, knows all too well the importance of wearing a mask, especially in these times.

“With our family, wearing a mask means not just keeping our family safe and Matthew safe, wearing a mask means keeping other people safe. So, we’re just trying to do our part and keep everybody safe – not just our family,” said Sophia.

Since her brother Matthew was just four days old, he has overcome many health conditions that began with a grade IV brain tumor diagnosis. After numerous surgeries, treatments and other procedures at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Sophia and her family are grateful for the care and hope that they’ve received as he reaches milestones they never thought possible.

When RE/MAX announced a Miracle Mask Contest in collaboration with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, they asked for submissions of artwork to be used to create face masks, Sophia focused her creativity on the theme of hope. The public voted on their favorites, and Sophia’s design, below, was chosen as one of the 3 winners.

When asked about her inspiration behind the face mask design, Sophia said, ” because Lurie Children’s gives so much hope to our family and many other families.”

The three winning designs, including Sophia’s, are now available for purchase. For each mask pack sold, 50% of the purchase price goes directly to the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, which in the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area is Lurie Children’s.
