Extra Life Chicago Celebrates Table Top Appreciation Weekend at Lurie Children’s

Extra Life Chicago is a community of over 900 Gamers in Chicagoland who come together to raise funds and awareness for Lurie Children’s through streaming and table top games. Since 2011, Extra Life Chicago has raised over $1.4M for Lurie Children’s supporting family services, research and expansion. 

On August 21st, the Chicago Extra Life Guild celebrated Table Top Appreciation weekend by hosting their annual Hospital Game Day at Lurie Children’s! After taking a year off, the Guild was excited to bring the event back to Lurie Children’s and welcome the Chicago Extra life community to the hospital to game together.

During the event, over 45 Chicago Gamers joined by bringing their favorite board game and playing games with our Champions, Abby and Amadeo. Attendees were encouraged to bring their favorite board games to play throughout the event, and I Play Games Chicago set up video games for Gamers. Lurie Children’s patient Abby joined Dave for a round of Injustice, and learned that it’s her new favorite game.

The event welcomed the Chicago Guild, DePaul Esports, Vivid Seats, the Nerdery Chicago and even a surprise visit from Chicago’s Cosplayers: Captain Marvel, Princess Jasmine and Elsa, Thor, the Black Widow and Captain America!
