First Ever Extra Life Chicago Gaming Convention (ELCGC)

On Sunday, September 18, 2022 Extra Life Chicago hosted their first ever gaming convention at Revel Motor Row, a local Chicago event space in the South Loop neighborhood. The gaming convention had over 200 participants support Lurie Children’s Hospital and the 220,000 patients treated every year.

Extra Life Chicago Gaming Convention (ELCGC) was designed to bring the gaming community together through the launch of this event that is also the first charity gaming convention in Chicagoland area. ELCGC offered a gaming hall with board and video games, celebrity guests, local vendors with gaming merchandise, cosplay competition, and an expert panel offering Q&A to all participants. Additional fun activities at the invent included laser tag and Jenga. Be on the lookout for our 2023 date to join us at ELCGC next year!

Extra Life is a nationwide movement of Gamers who unite to play games and heal kids at 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the country raising over $14 million in 2021. Extra Life Chicago is a group of over 800 Gamers and Cosplayers who since 2011 have raised nearly $2 million for patients and families at Lurie Children’s. Extra Life looks different for everyone- video, table top or PC games may be how you play, or cosplaying your favorite characters might be your way to play. No matter how you game, the mission stays the same—you game for every child.

This year, near the 14th annual Game Day hosted on November 5, 2022. The program reached it’s 100th million dollar raise since it’s inception last year!
